Travellers House
Travellers House is situated in the historic center of Lisbon, in the Baixa neighborhood. Most of the main sights of Lisbon are within walking distance (and anything that is not is easily accessed via the city’s great public transit systems), and for a bit of historic charm the hostel is housed in a 250-year-old building. Never fear, however, the interior has been updated and modernized to make your stay comfortable!
In addition to the dorm style rooms available at Travellers House, the owners have recently opened up an apartment in the same building (which they cleverly call “Little Travellers House”) with two bedrooms. The dorm rooms in the hostel share bright and airy bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen, and the apartment has its own bathroom and kitchen. Whichever you choose – dorm or apartment – you will be well looked after.
Some of the amenities you will find at Travellers House are:
- Free linens and towels
- Free breakfast and free coffee & tea all day
- Internet access and WiFi access
- Free CD/DVD burning facilities
- Free luggage storage and free individual security lockers (including free locks)
- Guest kitchen
- On site bar
- Four common rooms
- No lockout and no curfew
- 24 hour reception and 24 hour check in
The travelers who run Travellers House know what the people who are staying with them want, and they provide it. From free extras which are fairly uncommon – like free towels and free locks for the luggage lockers – to four cozy and inviting common rooms. There is a music room with an interesting music collection on hand, the TV/DVD room if you want to catch a film, the reading room for a bit of quiet relaxation and the dining room where you can share a meal with friends.
When reading user reviews of hostels, it is rare to find an average score of more than 93% – even the best places have flaws, after all. But Travellers House surpassed anything we had seen before, getting between 97% and 100% positive ratings on average. This place is definitely doing something right.
