Travellers Friendship Hostel

Travellers Friendship Hostel is in the Mirador Mansion on Nathan Road, in the heart of the Tsim Sha Tsui neighborhood of Kowloon. This gives guests a great home base location for visiting all of Hong Kong’s major sights, as well as doing the whole shop ’til you drop thing. The hostel is in a perfect location for any budget traveler, and as long as you do not require luxury you will be fine.

The room styles at Travellers Friendship Hostel go from the super budget six person dorm rooms to private single bedrooms and just about everything in between. Most of the rooms have private en suite bathrooms, while some make use of shared bathrooms. The hostel has recently gone through some renovations (early 2007), many of which were designed to make the hostel more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

While the outward appearance of the Mirador Mansion building might not be appealing, it is not indicative of every hostel inside. Some might still be pretty grungy, but Travellers Friendship Hostel has come a long way, baby, in its 20-plus years on Nathan Road. Of course, that does not mean you are going to find five-star hotel service here, or mints on the pillows, but for budget travelers this is a fine choice.

Keep in mind that almost all hostel rooms in Hong Kong are small, and the rooms at Travellers Friendship Hostel are no exception. Do not expect lots of extra elbow room around the bed. If you just need a place to sleep, however, you do not need extra elbow room, right?
