Italy has been a hot travel destination for centuries - with good reason. It would be nearly impossible to see all the art and historic treasures the country has to offer in just one visit, and the scenic beauty is unparalleled. So while it is not surprising that so many people still flock to Italy every year, it should also be no surprise that traveling in Italy is not always cheap. That is why it can be really important to find cheap places to stay in Italy.

While many smaller cities in Italy do not have traditional hostels, the biggest tourist cities do - cities like Rome and Florence in particular - so you will have plenty of options. Of course, there is such a thing as too much choice, as well. In Rome alone there are nearly 490 hostels to choose from!
