Heart of Gold Hostel

The Heart of Gold Hostel has been around since 2003 under different names, and is located in central Berlin. Most of the city’s main tourist attractions are within walking distance. If there is anything you want to see that seems too far away, the city’s fast metro system will get you there easily, and there is a metro stop that is less than a 10 minute walk from the hostel.

The rooms at Heart of Gold Hostel range from full apartments for longer stays to private singles or twins to dorm style rooms. The private singles and twins have en suite private bathroom facilities, and the apartments have bathrooms and kitchens. The dorm style rooms do not have en suite bathrooms, but all shared bathrooms are actually singles - so when you are using the bathroom, you get the entire room to yourself! This is no locker room style bathroom, this is just like home.

The usual hostel services like internet access and security lockers are accompanied by fun things like a pool table in the lounge and “sunglass rental” if you find yourself in the midst of an unexpected sunny day.

And just so you know, the people who set up Heart of Gold Hostel are fans of Douglas Adams - they claim to be known as the “Don’t Panic Hostel,” the rooms all have names from the “Hitchhiker’s Guide” series, they say the hostel is a spaceship and that they are “mostly harmless.” It is all in good fun, and in what ordinary hotel would you find that kind of character?
