Dublin Hostelling International

The historic building housing Dublin Hostelling International (An Oige) has at various times in its past been a convent and a school - in fact, the old chapel is now a restaurant and the old confessional box is now a phone booth. If that is not charming and unique, nothing is.

“An Ă“ige” is the name of Ireland’s Youth Hostel Association, and Dublin International Hostel is the capital city’s branch of An Oige, hence the name Dublin Hostelling International (An Oige). The hostel is located in Dublin’s center, just a short 15 minute walk from the popular Temple Bar area, close to many of the city’s main sights and both bus and train stations. The hostel is also not far from some of the rugged landscapes just outside the city, where you can get away from Dublin’s hustle and bustle and get back to nature.

Hostelling International is always checking to make sure that Dublin Hostelling International (An Oige) lives up to its high standards, and since this is the only Dublin hostel that is part of the HI organization it is the only one that is constantly being checked by HI.

Some of the amenities you will find at Dublin Hostelling International (An Oige) are:

  • Free linens (towels available for hire)
  • Free continental breakfast (cooked breakfast available for a small fee)
  • Internet access
  • Luggage storage and security lockers
  • Laundry facilities and guest kitchen
  • 24 hour reception and 24 hour check in
  • No curfew or lockout

There are dorms at Dublin Hostelling International (An Oige) for those who want the true hostel experience, and there are also private rooms for anyone who wants a little more of their own space - or a better night’s sleep. And if you are looking for a bit of a peaceful oasis to relax in after a long day spend sight seeing, the hostel has an outdoor garden that even has a play area for children. You see, just because backpackers grow up and have children does not mean they stop being backpackers. Besides, what better way is there to raise the next generation of hostellers than by taking them to hostels?

If you are looking for a clean and friendly place to stay, whether you come to Dublin to party or to relax, Dublin Hostelling International (An Oige) is ideal. The location is good for all travel personalities, and the hostel staff work hard to keep this hostel on the list of the best in Dublin.
