Bus Station Backpackers
As you might guess from the name, Bus Station Backpackers is a stone’s throw from Edinburgh’s St. Andrews bus station. It is also very close to the city’s main train station, too, so coming and going you have easy access to transportation. The hostel is also right in the city center, so Edinburgh’s main sights are all just a short walk from the hostel’s front door. What is more, some of the city’s best nightlife is also not far away.
The rooms at Bus Station Backpackers are all dorm style, with the number of beds in each ranging from four to 10. There are both mixed dorms and female only dorms available. The prices are incredibly cheap, although they will go up during busy times. Still, you will be able to get a great deal on a bed at Bus Station Backpackers.
Some of the amenities you will find at Bus Station Backpackers are:
- Free linens
- Free breakfast
- Free internet access and WiFi
- Free nightly pub crawl
- Luggage storage
- Guest kitchen
- No curfew or lockout
Bus Station Backpackers is a small hostel, which allows them to offer freebies that you do not always find in hostels. That includes free breakfast and free internet access – they figure it does not cost them much to have it, so why should they charge their guests? And if you know you want to experience some of Edinburgh’s famous pubs but you do not know where to go, you have two choices – you can either accept advice from the helpful staff, or you can join them for one of their nightly pub crawls. In fact, the hostel closes its reception desk to new check-ins at 9:30 in order to go on the pub crawl, so it is certainly something worth joining!
This might be one of Edinburgh’s newer hostels, but Bus Station Backpackers is already making its mark. For its homey feel, attentive staff and excellent rates, this is easily one of Edinburgh’s best hostels.
