Amsterdam Hostel
Amsterdam Hostel is one of the AAE Hotels properties, with budget hotels and hostels all over the world in cities like New York, Barcelona, Prague and Paris. AAE even has two San Francisco locations, although the other property is a boutique hotel. AAE’s Amsterdam Hostel is a few blocks from Union Square in central San Francisco, near some of the city’s best shopping, dining and sights.
Even though Amsterdam Hostel is a hostel, there are some private rooms along with the dorm style rooms, and even the dorm rooms have en suite bathrooms in them! There are different degrees of private rooms - for a little more money you can get a deluxe single or double room, but if you want your own space at a cheaper price you can book a “youth private” room. These sleep three to five people in twin sized bunk beds. The dorm style rooms sleep between four and six people in bunk beds.
Some of the amenities you will find at Amsterdam Hostel are:
- Free linens (towels available)
- Free breakfast
- Internet access and WiFi
- Luggage storage and security lockers
- Laundry facilities and guest kitchen
- No lockout and no curfew
- 24 hour reception and 24 hour check in
If you are looking for a basic place to stay in San Francisco, Amsterdam Hostel fits the bill nicely. As part of a chain, you can be assured of a certain level of quality - but it is not a family-run place. The hostel does organize things like pub crawls and DVD nights if you want to hang out with other guests, but you are certainly not required to - if you want your own space and you have booked a private room, you will be left alone.
With a helpful staff available 24 hours a day and excellent prices, Amsterdam Hostel is a good choice for your trip to San Francisco. It might not be oozing charm, but the low prices and fabulous location more than make up for that.
